Her Side Of Story

One morning...
I receive a call from an unknown number
but I picked it up anyway,
i hear a man's voice,it didn't sound familiar in my ear though
but...he knew my name!+he asked me what am i doing right now, where am i?
well at that time I was in front of PIM (Pondok Indah Mall, red) in a car with my friends, waiting for my other friend
I didn't know who the hell is this person,so I asked: "who is this?"
he didn't answer my question
he just said: "OK...well,have fun with ur friends!"
it was a very short conversation
and...untill the end of the conversation, I didn't know who he is
I'm just thinking that he's one of my friend
coz the phone number is coming from my friend's house area
but, I still didn't recognize the voice though.... (",)
Well, i'm sure it's my friend

I switch handphone with my sister that day
so i'm thinking, maybe he's my sister's friend
but, then again we're just switching handphone not number
how can my sista's friend knows my number?
and if it is her friend, why is he looking for me and knew my name?

.....as the day goes, i didn't really think about that call anymore

that night, when i'm allready at home
the phone rang again, i looked at the phone
and I said to my self: ok...it's familiar with the number that i receive this morning
so... i picked it up!

hey...it's the same voice!
and i knew it's not my friend...
God, i don't know this guy...but he knows me!!
uuugghhh....I hate this, it feels like someone is fooling me around
hhmmm...i'm thinking,maybe my old friend
maybe from elementary school, junior high or high school???
so.. i tried to remember names, faces and voices
............stilllllll, doesn't ring any bell

we talked....and talked....and talked....
then I found out that this guy lives in surabaya
WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY?!?!?!?
in 21 years of my life..
I don't know anyone who lives in surabaya
I don't have any friend in surabaya
I don't even have any relatives in Surabaya....so, who is this creep?

this guy asked question about me, my family, etc
and he laso talked a lot about himself...
from our conversation, i think he's cool + nice guy....
a little bit show off actually, but in a normal way (sorry, dear...)
i knew that he work in the 2nd largest newspaper in surabaya (if i'm not mistaken)
he has 2 brother, his birthday is on 16th march, so he's a pisces just like me

I asked him, how did u know me+get my number?
he said, "I don't know, i was just checking my handphone and i found ur name+number..so i call u"
(yeah,what a liar...........)
uugghh......i really hate this, i just don't want to be fool by someone i don't even know

in the middle of the conversation, he mentioned one of my friend's name
but, hey!! the chance that we're talking about the same person is like 1 in a million!!
then again..., even if that name is my friend, what the hell is got to do with me and this creep?
I don't see any connection at all!!

ding...ding!!!suddenly,the bell rings in my head..
i just remember, a few week before (or maybe a few month)
my friend (yess...it's the name that we're talking about)
said that she wanted to introduce me to a guy
it's the son of her mother best friend
she talked pretty serious that time, coz we talk just the two of us, away from our other friends
and she sounds very eager to introduce me to this guy
i am totally forgot about the conversation
coz i didn't take it seriously that time, i said it's up 2 u
if u wanna give my number...fine with me

so... I told him about that
finally!! I know who is this creep..
we talked for about an hour that night
mmm.....quite long conversation 4 someone who just knew each other

After that night, we still keep in touch
he called me sometime
I send him a short message sometime
i just think of him as a new friend, nothing more
beside, at that time i was so busy finishing my final assignment with my friends
so, i didn't really think of him a lot
well, maybe just a little bit curious......

Born an original. Don't die a copy

A birthday is just the first day of another 365-day journey around the sun. Enjoy the trip!
- I will

You're not getting older, you're getting better
- I'll keep that in mind

Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live
- Of course

The old believe everything; the middle-aged suspect everything; the young know everything
- Now, where was I?

Piracy Is (Not) a Crime!

Copy Protection is

…against humanity. After all, society is based on bending the rules.

Digital rights management (DRM) sounds unobjectionable on paper: Consumers purchase certain rights to use creative works and are prevented from violating those rights. Who could balk at that except the pirates? Fair is fair, right? Well, no.

In reality, our legal system usually leaves us wiggle room. What's fair in one case won't be in another - and only human judgment can discern the difference. As we write the rules of use into software and hardware, we are also rewriting the rules we live by as a society, without anyone first bothering to ask if that's OK.

The problem starts with the fact that digital content can be copied - perfectly - from one machine to another. This has led the recording and movie industries to push for DRM schemes. Buy a one-time right to play the latest hit song or movie, and DRM could prevent you from playing it twice.

Of course, to exercise such exquisite control over content, DRM requires deep changes to all parts of the equation - the hardware, the operating system, and the content itself. The usual criticism is that the scheme gives too much power to copyright holders. But there's a deeper problem: Perfect enforcement of rules is by its nature unfair. For contrast, consider how imperfectly rules are applied in the real world.

Example:
If your lease stipulates that you can't paint without explicit permission from your landlord, you will nevertheless patch up the scratches made by your yappy little dog on the bottom of the front door. If the high-priced industry analyst's report warns you on every page against duplicating, you'll still hand out at your weekly sales meeting copies of a page with a relevant chart. You'd snicker at the very suggestion of doing otherwise.

But why? The analyst report is stamped 'DO NOT PHOTOCOPY', and the bit in your lease about not painting really couldn't be any clearer.

We chuckle because we all understand that before the law there's leeway - the true bedrock of human relationships. Sure, we rely on rules to decide the hard cases, but the rest of the time we cut one another a whole lot of slack. We have to. That's the only way we humans can manage to share a world.

Yet we're on the verge of instituting DRM. What do computers do best? Obey rules. What do they do worst? Allow latitude. Why? Because computers don't know when to look the other way.

We're screwed. Not because we --MP3 cowboys and cowgirls-- will not have to pay for content we've been "stealing." No, we're screwed because we're undercutting the basis of our shared intellectual and creative lives. For us to talk, argue, try out ideas, tear down and build up thoughts, assimilate and appropriate concepts - heck, just to be together in public - we have to grant all sorts of leeway. That's how ideas breed, how cultures get built. If any public space needs plenty of light, air, and room to play, it's the marketplace of ideas.

There are times when rules need to be imposed within that marketplace, whether they're international laws against bootleg CDs or the right of someone to sue for libel. But the fact that sometimes we resort to rules shouldn't lead us to think that they are the norm. In fact, leeway is the default and rules are the exception.

Fairness means knowing when to make exceptions. After all, applying rules equally is easy. Any bureaucrat can do it. It's far harder to know when to bend or even ignore the rules. That requires being sensitive to individual needs, understanding the larger context, balancing competing values, and forgiving transgressions when appropriate.

But in the digital world - the global marketplace of ideas made real - we're on the verge of handing amorphous, context-dependent decisions to hard-coded software incapable of applying the snicker test. This is a problem, and not one that more and better programming can fix. That would just add more rules. What we really need is to recognize that the world - online and off - is necessarily imperfect, and that it's important it stay that way.

A Lose-Lose Situation, Poor McD

Healthy eating just isn't McDonald's bag, apparently. Stung by declining sales, the fast-food emporium is offering healthy-looking salads as an alternative to its artery-clogging hamburgers. Only problem is, the salads may be worse for you than the Big Mac. The nutrition counter on McDonald's own website provides the damning evidence: A "Caesar salad with Chicken Premiere" contains 18.4 grams of fat, compared with 11.5 grams of fat in a standard cheeseburger. Better make that an iced tea instead of a strawberry shake.

Curiosity, Among Friends Toward Friends

Phoebe Married, Ross And Rachel Got Together?
After a long decade, Friends, the sitcom, is going to air episode finale on May. The shooting wrapped at January 24th in Warner Bros. Studio, Los Angeles, California. How is it going to end? How the hell NBC is going to keep it as secret to millions of people?

Those questions, I believe, is the one out of many thoughts that keep swirling around my head the past days. Yet, another reason for keeping me awake is watching the complete series over and over again. "Not again!" is prolly my DVD player going to say if I snuggle myself into the cabinet looking through the huge collection. So curiosity is the one that keeps bothering me (thank you very much Mrs. Kauffman).

Talking about curiosity, the basic question of all lies in the connection of Ross and Rachel. From episode one, 10 years ago, they both goes up and down, on and off, maried and divorce, having kid and seperate, bla bla bla....

"I think Rachel was meant to be with Ross. I'll kill Joey if he ever got out with Rachel," said Matt LeBlanc on Entertainment Weekly.

It could be true that Ross and Rachel are finally got together forever... well, not that long I guess.

How about other character? Before episode finale, Phoebe is married with Mike. Then Joy moved out to California pursuing his acting career. As for Joey himself will be continuing onscreen with his own sitcom, Joey. Monica and Chandler has a real baby delivered to her house (read: adoption). Which is funny because in real life, Courteney Cox Arquette also having her first baby with David Arquette.

Those character may have their lives laughed about by us, but the story has to end. Can we lived on without those six cracked heads friends?

News Flash:
- 2 Million US of D for 30 seconds commercial break on episode Finale.
- The previous record hold by Seinfeld, which ended in 1998, at US$ 1,7 million for 30 seconds commercial break.
- The payment for each cast is US$ 1 million per episode in the last two season.

Life After Friends
Courteney Cox Arquette (Monica Geller Bing)
Alabama, 15 Juni 1964
Sedang menanti kelahiran anak pertama, Courteney Cox tampaknya bakal lebih aktif tampil di layar lebar. Dia baru saja membintangi film drama independen November.
Sekarang, pasangan suami istri ini sebenarnya telah memproduseri acara televisi Mix It Up.

Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green)
New York, 11 Februari 1969
Bagi Jennifer Aniston, syuting episode terakhir Friends banyak menyita energinya. Makanya, begitu syuting selesai, dia ingin berlibur. "Saya ingin mengambil liburan panjang. Saya sudah lama membutuhkannya," ujarnya.
Aniston sendiri kini telah aktif bermain di layar lebar. Film terakhirnya, Along Came Polly (bersama Ben Stiller), telah menduduki box office Amerika Serikat. Bisa diduga, karirnya bakal makin bersinar di layar lebar. Selain itu, Aniston juga bahagia hidup bersama suaminya, aktor ganteng Brad Pitt. Baru-baru ini, Aniston menyinggung soal keinginannya untuk punya anak.

Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay)
California, 30 Juli 1963

Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing)
Massachusetts, 19 Agustus 1969

Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani)
Massachusets, 25 Juli 1967

David Schwimmer (Ross Geller)
New York, 12 November 1966

About the character, I might just like Joey when chasing girls in particular, but I'm definetly Chandler with Ross intelligence. Which one is yours?
_______
UPDATE

Or, to make it easier you could always take the quiz. And again, I'm definetly Chandler.

Been Trying To Get Some ZZZs

I used to be an easy-to-sleep person. But in the past few days, after I dated this person, well, I won't called it a date though for it only consist of several hitting and a lot of kicking (sounds like a sadomachosist, eh?), I've got trouble of getting into a nice sleep. And when I finally get asleep the nightmare keeps popping-up on my mind. So, I woke up again... and again... and again...

I've been trying hard to get back to my good ol'days regarding on the ZZZs part and came up with these solutions that don't require a trip to the drugstore:

1. Make your bedroom a heaven for sleep. Your room should be quiet and sufficiently dark, because darkness prompts the pineal gland to produce melatonin, the hormone that induces sleep (thanks to Deny for the info). Heavy drapes can help keep the light out, and a fan can help drown out any annoying sounds. Cool temperatures help you sleep. For better air circulation, open a window or use a fan.

2. Become a creature of habit. A nighttime routine can be very effective in letting your body know when it's time to sleep. Go through whatever rituals help you get mentally prepared for sleep (read a few pages of your novel, spend 5 to 10 minutes on personal grooming, meditate, stretch, etc.). It's also critical to go to bed and get up at the same time every day -- even on weekends.

3. Reserve your bed just for sleeping. Avoid working, paying bills, exercising, or taking shower in bed. If you associate your bed only with sleep, you'll be more likely to fall asleep when you get under the covers for the night.

4. Tame your tummy. Going to bed either hungry or too full can disrupt your sleep. Don't have a big meal too close to bedtime or the digestion process might keep you awake. Also, if you lie down after stuffing yourself you can end up with stomachache. If you're hungry, have a snack rich in carbohydrates, which trigger the release of the brain chemical serotonin, associated with relaxation. Try a bowl of cereal. Pair it with some milk or a slice of chicken, both rich in the amino acid tryptophan, which also induces sleep (thanks to Deny again). But Den, I eat those for breakfast also... ^_^

5. Watch the caffeine. Too much caffeine throughout the day, even if it's not consumed right before bedtime, can contribute to fitful slumber. Once you got old, say, 50, your metabolism slows, so caffeine may stay in your system longer -- up to 10 hours. Limit yourself to two cups of tea, coffee, or cola, taken at least 6 hours before bedtime. If that doesn't work, try cutting out caffeine altogether. This is the hardest ritual for me. Because right after I got frustated, I need some caffeine supplies into my vein.

6. Exercise. It's a simple fact: If you're physically tired at the end of the day, you'll sleep better. Exercise at least three hours before bedtime.

7. Soak it up. Take a warm bath an hour or two before bed. Your body temperature will slowly drop after bathe, making you feel tired. Don't bathe right before bed, however, because it can briefly stimulate you enough to make it hard to fall asleep.

8. Drift off naturally. Investigate the benefits of chamomile, valerian, kava, passionflower, skullcap, catnip, or hops. These herbs can be taken in tea and other forms. A cup of chamomile tea before bedtime may be all you need to relax.

9. Don't toss and turn. If 30 minutes go by and you haven't fallen asleep, don't lie in bed feeling frustrated. Get up and do something relaxing, like listening to soothing music or flipping through a magazine. Or make yourself a cup of warm milk.

10. Buy the right bed. A bed that's too soft can cause poor sleep postures (which can also lead to muscle stiffness and back problems). If you're leaving a divot in the mattress when you get up, it's too soft. Replace your mattress if it's more than 10 years old, and buy one that's as firm as you can tolerate but still comfortable.

Why not following the old ritual like counting endless sheep, you prolly ask. Well, It's only getting you into a frustated situation. Trust me, I've tried...
